Prohibited Articles

Safety first: These are the items you cannot carry.

At airports and during flights, safety always comes first. To ensure the security of all passengers, certain items are strictly prohibited in restricted areas of the airport and on the aircraft. Know what you cannot carry and travel safely.

 

Are there prohibited items in carry-on luggage?

Yes. In restricted security areas and on board the aircraft, passengers are not allowed to carry any weapons, tools, sharp or cutting objects, or substances classified as hazardous.

What items are prohibited in checked baggage?

It is strictly forbidden to carry explosive materials, incendiary substances, and/or devices in checked baggage.

 

What items are considered prohibited?

Among others, the following items are prohibited:

  • Firearms, pistols, and any device capable of firing projectiles.
  • Toy guns or replicas made of metal or plastic, including water guns.
  • Slingshots, darts, sports bats, or sticks.
  • Sharp or cutting objects, such as razor blades, knives, scissors, or any pointed blades longer than 6 cm. Syringes are only allowed with a medical prescription.
  • Work tools.
  • Fireworks, flammable liquids, or solids.
  • Bleach, acids, and poisons.
  • Pressurized air or gas objects.

I am a smoker. Can I carry cigarettes and a lighter?

Smoking is strictly prohibited on the aircraft, and in the airport, you may only smoke in designated smoking areas. However, tobacco products can be carried in your hand luggage.

During security screening, a lighter or electronic cigarette must be placed in your carry-on baggage.
Remember that electronic cigarettes are prohibited for use on board.

 

What should I do if I have a prohibited or restricted item in my baggage?

If you have a prohibited or restricted item in your baggage, you have the following options:

  • Return it to a family member;
  • Check it in as hold baggage, if permitted;
  • Send it via express mail from the postal station located near the security checkpoint.
