Santa Luzia
Santa Luzia is the only uninhabited island in Cape Verde, but that does not make it any less significant. Santa Luzia is an important natural reserve with a diverse and rich marine ecosystem.
Considered an ecological refuge, the island serves as a crucial nesting site for endangered loggerhead and hawksbill turtles.
Since Santa Luzia is part of the Integral Natural Reserve, access to the island is restricted and only possible by boat. A special permit from Cape Verde’s General Directorate of Environment is required.
